Three Labourers D ie After House Collapses in Punjab’s Farvahi Village

Farvahi (Punjab): In a tragic incident early this morning, three labourers lost their lives when a house undergoing repairs collapsed in Farvahi village. The incident occurred around 4:12 AM, burying the workers who were sleeping on the roof.

The house belonged to a man named Vishal. A contractor named Ranjeet from Moga had been hired to straighten the structure, which had tilted due to water from a nearby drain seeping into its foundation. The repair work had been ongoing for the past 10-15 days.

The deceased have been identified as three labourers from the Moga district: a 35-year-old from Kaila Khurd village, a 30-year-old from Dala village, and a 23-year-old from Moga’s Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar.

Upon receiving information about the collapse, villagers and the police launched a rescue operation. It took approximately two hours of effort to pull the three men from the debris. One of them was reportedly heard murmuring, but all three were declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.

Initially, there were fears that four labourers were trapped. However, it was later confirmed that one worker had left to sleep at a relative’s house in the village the previous night, thus escaping the tragedy.

The local Station House Officer (SHO) stated that the contractor is being questioned to determine the exact cause of the collapse. Locals have alleged negligence on the part of the contractor regarding safety measures. Two neighboring houses also sustained damage in the incident. Authorities have recorded statements from the victims’ families and initiated further proceedings.
